Lockdown Zone is a a short visual music video inspired by what I observed during my residential area while in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Different aspects such as shapes, lights, forms, colors are taken from my observation, then interpreted into the motion graphics elements of this piece, following a surrealist palette that expresses my connection with the current scenery. These animated elements are eventually accompanied by an electronic soundtrack and put together using a real-time visual mixing technique.

SYNOPSYS

This is a piece of visual music inspired by what I observed around me during the lockdown in the city of Saigon. There have been many changes to the city during the time its residents stay indoors. The 'sleepless city' is apparently asleep in this strange time when there is no sign of loud sirens, traffic, and people activities. The little details in life such as blinking street lights or the patterns of the street which are usually unnoticeable during normal life became vivid when people recede.

By creating tailor-made motion graphic pieces, I want to portray a visual performance on this canvas by mixing these elements in real-time using VJ techniques and tools to reflect the abnormal vibrations of the current situation.

Inspired by pylons laid on the street during lockdown

Windows modeled from the neighbor’s apartment.

The blinking effects also inspired by the action of turning the lights on&off
