Weekend Voyage Music Festival is an electronic-music festival held in the pearl Island of Phu Quoc, Vietnam. The festival gathers big-labelled melodic techno artists around the globe for a 3 days, 2 night of audio-visual feast. I and my colleagues had the chance to design their 2 stages, with myself as the lead designer for the Mainstage, and as the visual jockey of the show.

The stage concept evokes a raw and industrial feel, resembles a raw skeletal structure clinging to the platform of the stage. I want to recreate the rough feeling of underground techno raves, with monochromatic lighting and solid, minimalistic blocks of visuals. The stage is divided into 3 main parts: Screens, led strips and parled lights. With these three elements, it is easy to mix and match different variations of visuals to maximize the deliverables of the show.

This was an enjoyable experience overall. I played a total of 22 hours, live and fully improvisational session. Safe to say this was the longest live V-jing gig of my career thus far.

3D SIMULATION

3D visualization of the mainstage. The concept follows

an industrial style that based primarily on metal trusses.

3D SIMULATION

I selected a combination of square LED screens and led strips.

This creates dynamism during live show, allowing me to creatively control

each of these

Screen Visuals

Some visual elements I created for the

squared led screens. Most are abstract elements that plays with space and shape, creating some sort of 3D illusion on stage.
