“HUẾ BY LIGHT – THE LIVE SHOW” is a large-scale public immersive light show and curated sound designs has garnered over 25,000 attendees to the royal Citadel in ancient Huế, Vietnam.
For the commemoration of the 50th diplomatic anniversary between France and Vietnam, I was honored to have been chosen as the Artistic director alongside with my team, as organizer of the full production of Huế Festival closing ceremony.
The result of this one-year work is truly a sublime bridging of Vietnam and France traditions along with modern innovation and traditional remembrances.

ART DIRECTION
Huế, the ancient capital of Vietnam, steeped in rich cultural heritage and historical significance, became the primary focus of our year-long research project. Immersing ourselves in the city’s artistic and architectural wonders, my colleagues and I delved into the intricate details of its artistry and design, seeking to gain a deeper understanding of its profound cultural legacy.
Upon recognizing the parallels between the intricate patterns of Huế art and the influential French Art Nouveau movement, I found inspiration in the patterns, materials, and colors that ultimately became the foundation for the creation of this 45-minute program.

As the French representative, we selected the renowned artist and composer Sébastien Tellier, a trailblazer of the French touch movement and a versatile instrumentalist known for his innovative approach to stage performance and extravagant expression.
On the Vietnamese side, the emerging band Limebócx stands out with their fusion of traditional Vietnamese Ca Tru singing style, zither, and various ethnic instruments with electronic sounds and beatboxing, resulting in a distinctive musical style that boldly incorporates traditional Vietnamese melodies.
